Hayatus Sahaba is not a linear biographical work, but an encyclopedic work of morals and objectives of Islam, using biographical incidents collated together from the lives of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his companions (as). It particularly focuses on the sacrifices made by the companions in order to advance the establishment of Islam as a way of life.
It is one of the main books of the Jamat-e-Tableegh, the 100 million strong world-wide islamic movement. As such, it would be considered one of the most widely read and referenced books after the Holy Qur'an and the major Hadith compilations.
It is not clear if this is an English translation of the Urdu original or the Arabic original. Or whether the Urdu edition itself is original. Because in some places, it is mentioned that the book was written by the author in Arabic. If that is the case, then the most commonly printed Urdu version would itself be a translation of the original in Arabic.
Subject-wise, it is roughly organized in 5 parts across 3 volumes as below.
PART ONE - Dawah - Bay’ah - Hardships in Propagation of Deen - Hijrah
PART TWO - Nusrah - Striving in the Path of Allah - Unity
PART THREE - Spending in the Path of Allah - How Sahabahs Relinquished Carnal Desires
PART FOUR - Character of Sahabah - Sahabah’s Belief in the Unseen - Sahabah and Salaat - Knowledge
PART FIVE - Dhikr - Duas made by Sahabah - Lectures by Sahabah - Advices of Sahabah - Unseen Help of Allah
